WORKSHOP: Bossy

Thursday, 18 July 2019
6:30 pm – 8:30 pm
$45 per person (includes a Fluff bag + bronzer - combined value $58!)
Description
We’re constantly told we should be a boss: our own boss. Someone else's boss. The boss of your own destiny. But being the boss is about more than meeting rooms, briefcases, and double espresso shots. Or on the other end, working on your laptop in Bali, or NY, or Paris. Maybe it has nothing to do with that at all. Maybe (and more often) it's about tough decisions. Making mistakes. Listening to others. Ignoring some. It’s about being strong, but also knowing that strength doesn’t always equal success. Sometimes it's more about being vulnerable.
There’s no one who gets this more than Erika Geraerts. Three years ago Erika stepped away from the multi-million dollar business she co-founded, Frank Body, to launch her own beauty venture, Fluff. Frustrated by influencer-culture and brands that spoke down to their audience, Fluff exists to show the world that beauty is more than makeup. To strip back overwhelming messaging and negative marketing and to make truly good products that people actually want to use - that are good for their skin and the planet.
Join Erika for a frank (lol) discussion on the business (and emotion) of business, doing things you care about, and being a boss – whatever that even means.
What you can expect:
A Fluff bag + bronzer (combined value $58!)
A summary of Fluff. Why and how and what it’s taken to get here. (3 years in the making, 1 year in the market, $1 million in funding).
A discussion on influencer culture, PR, word of mouth and the future of beauty.
The true costs of running a business. What does it take to break even?
What she’d do differently. Advice for anyone in business. Whether you’re the boss or not.
Managing people. The hardest job she’s ever had.
Please submit any questions you’d like answered to sally@ladiesofleisurezine.com - we want you to get the most out of this talk!
