The Social Studio is a fashion school, a clothing label, a retail shop, an ethical clothing manufacturer and a community space created from the style and skills of young people from new migrant and refugee communities.
Founded by a group of community members, local designers, and professionals in 2009, The Social Studio has social enterprise built into their company DNA, creating a business that exists to champion the values of diversity, community, education, environmentally sustainable design and ethical practices. They've been operating out of Collingwood for the last 10 years!
In this session of THIS IS HOW WE DO IT, we welcome The Social Studio’s CEO Cate Coleman for a behind-the-scenes look at how to build a socially-conscious business from the ground-up, the day-to-day realities of running a not-for-profit organisation and tips for how you can give back to your community in a meaningful way.
What you can expect:
The Social Studio's origin story and how it survived 10 years
Imprinting social impact into your DNA
